SAESL commenced operations in 2001 as a Trent Centre of Excellence and specialises in the repair and overhaul of the successful family of Rolls-Royce Trent aero engines. Through an innovative state-of-the-art in-line gantry system. SAESL is capable of handling module change and module overhaul work for Trent 800 (B777), Trent 700 (A330), Trent 500 (A340) and Trent 900 (A380) engines.

SAESL is the lead shop for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the Trent 900 engine, the first to enter service with Singapore Airlines and is the only overhaul facility in the world capable of repairing all 'in service' variants of the Trent engine. SAESL is now anticipating the development of Trent XWB (A350) and Trent 1000 (B787) capability to meet future demand in the Asia Pacific region.

In 2007 SAESL completed its 500th Trent engine and only 2 years later, in 2009, SAESL celebrated the completion of its 1000th Trent engine as the company continues to attract new customers and set new benchmarks for repair turnaround time within the industry. This event coincided with the completion of its new 12,000 sqm facility extension, which represents a $60 million investment and is dedicated to the development of component repair capability and logistics whilst providing additional module repair capacity. The 30,000 sqm facility is now capable of repairing up to 250 Trent engines a year.
